Bred by Alexander Dickson II (1857-1949) (United Kingdom, before 1912).
Introduced in United States by Robert Scott & Son as 'Irish Fireflame'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in before 1921 as 'Irish Fireflame'.

Class:

Hybrid Tea.

Bloom:

Orange, scarlet shading, crimson veining, ages to yellow. Strong, fruity fragrance. 5 petals. Average diameter 5". Large, single (4-8 petals), borne mostly solitary bloom form. Moderate, blooms in flushes throughout the season. Medium buds.

Habit:

Medium, bushy, compact, dense. Medium, glossy, dark green foliage.

Height: up to 3' (up to 90cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 7b and warmer. Can be used for beds and borders or landscape. Hardy. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant, mildew resistant, rust resistant. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that. Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) . Feed this rose well. Prune lightly or not at all.
