I love roses and have been in love with them for nearly 50 years. My father bought a Don Juan for my mother for Mother's Day when I was a teenager and I've been in love with them ever since. I want to learn how to propagate them, so I can share my love of them. Six years ago I was diagnosed with Stage IV Non-Hodgkin Cancer and my skin (especially my forearms and the back of my hands) have changed to where they are paper thin. The slightest scratch creates a wound that takes a week or more to heal. Yes, I do where gauntlet gloves, but sometimes I forget to wear them when I want to do a quick deadhead. When I lived in Arizona for 30 years, I had over 300 roses in my collection. I have moved to Washington state and am looking to rebuild my collection of roses, but with thornless or nearly thornless ones. I love all colors in the OGR, the David Austins, and modern hybrid teas. I'm currently up to about 70 roses and 50 or more are thornless or nearly thornless. Most are babies, and I like to order own root as much as possible. I order them online from a variety of rose vendors. Sometimes, I'll catch a rose or two at a local nursery. I look forward to hearing from anyone that is interested sharing roses. Loretta :o)
