Hello, Just a query as to the correct name - is it Souvenir de Monsieur Bruel or as each photo is described Svr de Madame Bruel? Many thanks

It is 'Souvenir de Monsieur Bruel' as can be seen from the early references of the 1890s. Unfortunately, Simon/Cochet listed it as 'Souvenir de Mme Bruel' in their 1899 catalogue. This name was repeated by Gravereaux in his 1902 L'Hay catalogue, by Jäger in Rosenlexikon and subsequently also by Sangerhausen. HMF used to have both names as synonyms, but later moved the false Madame to Hidden names. If the photos were posted before this move, they still retain Madame, instead of Monsieur. The confusion was probably also because there is an earlier 1881 rose of Levet named 'Madame Bruel'
