Located in Canada’s Niagara Region, Vineland Research and Innovation Centre is a world-class research centre dedicated to horticultural science and innovation. Our researchers in Applied Genomics, Consumer Insights and Horticultural Production Systems work together to deliver innovative products and production solutions that address the needs of the horticulture industry and advance Canada's research and commercialization agenda. The rose breeding program at Vineland focuses on the development of black spot resistance screening techniques, breeding cold hardy roses for global markets and understanding consumer preference and markets for Canadian roses. In collaboration with the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association, Vineland is developing a commercialization plan for North American markets. The commercialization of new roses will provide a competitive edge for the Canadian nursery industry and create a pipeline into international markets.
