I live in Arvada, Colorado and have been growing roses for the past 10+ years. I currently have over 75 roses:
Hybrid Teas: 35
Floribundas:10
Grand Floras:10
Miniature: 10
Climbing:12
I have the majority of my roses in my front garden. Since I live at the end of a cul du sac our property is pie-shaped facing east. Therefore I have garden paths extending from one garden entrance gate on the north of our home to the southern entrance garden gate. Since my property is long and narrow with more land on the sides of our home, I have divided the land into individual garden rooms that are separated by iron fences, garden gates, arches and pergolas. I used various types of fences around the perimeter depending on what garden room you are in. I use mostly lattice fences (breathing fences) with vines and bushes as privacy. Beginning at the north garden white picket fence arbor gate you enter the Serenity Garden. The pathway goes through 4 fruit trees, contains perennial beds, raspberry patch, garden cottage shed. Our small ranch home has French doors off the bedroom which opens onto a stone patio that overlooks this area. Around the patio are my little mini roses. The grey fine path winds through a grapevine arbor into the Briar Garden (back garden). Here the pathway turns into pavers and winds around the back of the house. Privet bushes line the back fence, a raised curved stone bed with ground cover and flowers line the back covered patio. As you continue on, the pathway opens onto a courtyard with spa, pergola going across the back of the house. This area is divided by an iron fence with roses. You leave this area by opening the iron gate going through an iron arbor with climbing rose. This area is the Tranquility Garden, the garden path turns again into grey fine gravel. This area is more naturalistic with wooden bridge going over a very small pond with waterfall. The pathway leads through aspen trees, boulders, evergreens, vines, pergolas with benches and sky rockets providing a secret garden affect. Throughout all of the gardens 6 loveseats have been placed to view different areas of the gardens.
You exit through an iron arbor gate, going through a small area and through the white picket fence gate.
