A beautiful rose! But which 'Duc d'Angoulême' ?
Have you considered the gallica 'Hippolyte'?
You need to photograph a typical leaf (with all leaflets on the palm of your hand (for size comparison).
Also the receptacle to show smooth or glandular surface.
And the stipule (to show the stipule edge)
And a typical cane to show prickles.

Well, this has been a mistery since years but thank to you for suggesting me this one, after checking and comparing, yes it must be Hippolyte !
there are so many gallica's in that range of colour, I remember once I checked all the pics I found in French nurseries, my eyes just couldn't watch them all.

A pleasure Oli_Hwk. I too have a foundling rose that I have been watching for seven years now. I am fairly convinced that this is 'Hippolyte' and have added some photos, but you will note that I have noted "Hippolyte possibly" to the captions. My camera is just not good enough to show the tiny details like receptacle surface or any fringed stipule edge, but hopefully someone else may one day add these photos. My (dimming) eyes can't watch them all either - which makes me very grateful there is a whole world of HelpMeFind rose-watchers out there to help.
