I have both Baltimore belle and Long John Silver planted , Baltimore Belle is more generous in its bloom quantity and blooms earlier , Long John Silver blooms later than most roses , its blooms are flatter, it also takes a bit longer to establish.

I don't (yet) grow Baltimore Belle so I can't compare it with Long John Silver. My plant of LJS is quite floriferous and continues to produce wonderful clusters of up to eight 'blooms' - four open and four fat buds - in my Oxfordshire garden - and it's a damp late October. It's beautiful, slightly ribbed foliage look really healthy, too. The fact that it is late blooming seems to me a great advantage.

There appears to be quite a bit of some Rosa multiflora hybrid mixed into this photograph (the larger clusters of buds, and the brighter green foliage is all that variety.) The subject of the photo has grayish leaves and flowers not noticeably in clusters.
