This rose took about a year to establish itself and now it is non-stop blooms! This is a short shrub rose so don't place it in the back of the garden where other roses will hide it's beauty. Small flowers but a rich velvet carpet red. Grows well in the mid-Atlantic

This description of Dusky Dancer as a short shrub rose is interesting as Tasman Bay Roses (New Zealand) catalogue classifies it as a patio/climber. I recently planted it in a position where I expect it to climb, so I'm about to find out!

I grew it for years. It was a 4' x 4' green ball, with miniflora-sized foliage, and large sprays of miniflora-like blooms of black-red. No scent, but tons of blooms. Very vigorous, too, but it always stayed at 4'.

Five feet has been the extent of mine, two years on from my last post.

This rose has the thickest canes I have ever seen. It is a healthy plant and a true yellow color on the blooms. The flowers are a bit on the small size and don't hold up well in water when cut. Blooms are not long lasting. My garden is in Maryland.

Just bought this rose. I really like the yellow. Does it hold its color well in the heat and does it repeat often? I hope so!!

Aug 2007: This rose opens too quickly here in the Silicon Valley, due to the intense heat/sun. However, this year we've had a cool summer, so the blooms have stayed nice for a longer time. The color of yellow is truly heavenly, and I have seen this in a tree-form in Gilroy, CA at Bonfonte Gardens, where it was growing under high/tall trees that protected it from the burning sun. Also, this is NOT a nice looking bush, so the tree-form really hides this abnormality quite well, as I purchased this rose bush, based on the 48" tree that we saw at Bonfante!!

The color in my Maryland garden is a mauve/brown which sounds awful but is actually quite lovely and definitely unusual. This is a wonderful healthy vigorous plant!

The fragrance of this rose is wonderful. A very old rose scent with a touch of citrus to it. The colors are true to the description and although my rose is not very large, it always seems to have a bloom on it.
