I'm wondering with the very cold days we've had this January how much die back we'll see and how many roses will die this year. We've had a good blanket of snow, several inches at all times, so who knows...only time will tell.

I have replaced some rose bushes that didn't take last year, or succumbed to fungus. I was quite surprised when a few that I thought to be gone, sprouted new bud from the ground. That makes me happy.

Incredible. Because of the unusually mild weather this winter some of my roses have buds. Here, close to Chicago, in my garden. I've noticed many on Clothilde Soupert, Cl, on Marie Pavié, and one on my Grande Dame. Belle de Crécy is fully draped in leaves. I should take some pictures.
