From the photo, it looks as if the rose is growing against the house without the support of a trellis, etc. Is that correct? It also looks as if only a few main canes are supporting the balance. Is that correct?

Actually, there are a few horizontal wires to which the plant is loosely attached.

Re- Lorraine Lee clg. It seems that this magnificent climbing rose is only available in Australia, NZ, SA and USA. Availability in USA indicates that it is already accustomed to life in the Northern Hemisphere. So why is it not yet marketed in any Europen Country? It likes heat and is not so vigorous in conditions cooler than Australia. But there must be many gardens in the South of England where this rose might be very suitable for clothing a large arch. Perhaps it has been tried and found unsuitable. If anyone reading this can throw any light on these matters, perhaps they would let me know. 'Nyssaone' (xxxxxx@tiscali.co.uk)
