I have this rose and love it. It is thornless, a perpetual bloomer (even in our heat) and the darling flowers just have some kind of Victorian look about them. It just looks old fashioned. I consider it a "close up" rose and have it on my patio in a big container. It is the only rose I know that has a highly decorative oriental sort of look after it drops its leaves. I read that it got its name because it looks a lot like a blueberry bush in form and leaves. Anyway, I think it is a really lovely rose and I treasure it. It doesn't seem to get much blackspot but I spray regularly and cannot give a good idea of how it would be with no spray.

I live in North Texas and we have very hot summers. I have 2 Red Cascades. The one that gets afternoon shade is beautiful, blooms all summer in flushes and is very healthy. Another poor plant is in full afternoon sun, up against a wooden fence. Every summer is fries. I always think that it surely won't make it through this summer. However, in the fall it gets better and by next spring it is covered with flowers until it gets really hot. I think in a hot climate I would recommend some afternoon shade for Red Cascade.
