Is this rose better than Reve d'or?
repeat flowering?
Fragrance?

I consider this an excellent landscape rose for a suitable climate. The blooms are tiny but come in huge clusters and they look well against the healthy green foliage. For me, this was an absolutely no care rose. Every once in a while I would cut off the big pannicles of old flowers because I tend to get obsessive about dead heading.

I have not grown 'Reve d'Or'. It does have a much more spectacular flower than Aimee.

I like Reve d'Or better; the flowers have both a better color and more fragrance. And fewer thorns!
Alister Stella blooms fade a lot in the intense heat of coastal SE Virginia.

How is this rose on its own roots? I have it in 2 different situations and its very slow to establish. Since this is not unusual for some garden/shrub roses I am being patient.

I am not cutting my plants back at all since I would like them to develop some structure and become bushy shrubs.

Let me know how yours are doing!

'Birthday Girl' is amazing own-root, if you still want to try something battle-proven as an own-root from this lineage.

I'm most interested to know if the blooms darken even in a hot climate. This rose is really intriguing, I love the golden stamens.

Its more that the color change is more evident the brighter it is out. In overcast weather, the white has a pearl tone to it, but not a lot of pink.

Do you have any other thoughts to offer after a full year with the plant? I am thinking of giving it a try, but don't want to make a mistake. Any further insights on this plant would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This rose is recommended by Pat Henry of Roses Unlimited, who has singled out a couple roses from each breeder in her currrent catalog. RU is located in the highlands of South Carolina and has a wonderful selection of moderns and antique roses.
