ARS believes it is the same rose as Marvelle/Tropical Sunset, i.e. renamed by someone who marketed it without paying for the licensing rights to its rightful breeder (McGredy).

Thank you. I posted on a rose forum about this right after I wrote this comment and got the same answer. Maybe HMF should include the reference to Marvelle and Tropical sunset to clear things up. Thanks ...Donna

The reverse is the same, which is yellow with some striped tinting on the back. The reverse is not full on striped. The petals, color, and form are also the same. The foliage is the same. I have no idea on plant habit.

My guess is that this really is Marvelle or a sister of it. It could have been re-named and stole, or it could have been licensed and re-named in another country.

It definitely has all of the McGredy HT hallmarks from that era.

Regan Nurseries in Fremont sold 'Tropical Sunset' (see the 2002 ref for that rose), and then later they were selling 'Rainbow Niagara' (see the 2005 ref for that rose). The date listed in the 2005 reference is 2003.
