I have just recently purchased one of these roses, however, the tag says nothing about it being a climbing rose. Can anyone advise me if there are varieties of this rose that don't climb?

The original "version" of Europeana is a bush type. It has mutated to the climbing form. You, evidently, bought the climbing form.
