A co-worker has asked me a question about a breed of rose that I'm not familiar with. He saids that its called a " Dolly Pardon Rose" (due to the size of the flower- Ms. Pardon's bust line). Not sure if it exists or maybe called by another name. If it doesn't exist, my question would be, which rose species does produce the largest flower? If it does, where can he purchase them?

There is a Hybrid Tea named for Miss Parton. I don't grow Dolly Parton so I can't speak to the size of her blooms. I'm pretty sure this is what your friend was talking about.

Thank you. I kept searching on the internet yesterday and happen to find a gentleman out of California who sells Dolly Pardon hybrid teas. His web site is www.growquest.com. However, I still what to know which rose species has the largest flower head. If you know please respond.

I think the reason you had difficulty locating Dolly is the spelling of the last name. Parton works much better.

As for the large blooms. If you are looking for florist form, then the class Hybrid Tea would be the answer. Be aware bloom size varies by variety. Bewitched, depending where it is grown can get open blooms the size of dinner plates. Where as Lynn Anderson is reputed to have small blooms. Both are Hybrid Teas.

David Austin roses are classified as Modern Shrubs. Most of them produce large cabbage blooms. The Hybrid Perpetuals and Burbons I grow have nice large blooms.

The best answer to your question is 'What kind of bloom form do you like best?' Then look for large blooming varieties which match what you like.
Good Luck
