From Hermann Kröger of Elmshorn, Holstein, Germany. See Rosen-Zeitung 1926, p. 47, plus ads from Kröger, passim in Rosen-Zeitung.

It could be a similarity of name. Both 'Goldenes Mainz' and 'Professor Schmeill' are sports, which could mean that Kröger was a discoverer. Mainz also points in a different direction than Freiburg, where Dr. Krüger lived. Finally, Jäger would have used the correct names.

Thank you, so it is wrong, that "Welt der Rosen" lists Professor Schmeil at Dr. Krüger's roses?

I think it is better to leave it as breeder Kröger until we find more information pro or contra.
