HelpMeFind's future is in your hands - Please do not take this unique resource for granted.

Your support of HelpMeFind is urgently needed. HelpMeFind, like all websites, needs funding to survive. We have set a premium-membership yearly subscription amount as low as possible to make user-community funding viable.

We are grateful to the many members who have signed up so far, but the number of premium-membership members remains too small for us to sustain the current support and development level. If you value HelpMeFind and want to see it continue we need your support too.

Yearly membership is only $2.00 per month and adds a host of additional features, and numerous planned enhancements, to take full advantage of the power and convenience of HelpMeFind. Click here to start your premium membership..

We of course also welcome donations of any amount. Click here to make a donation. Donations of $24 or more receive a thank-you gift of a 1-year premium membership.

As far as we have come, we feel HelpMeFind is still in its infancy. With your support we have so much more to accomplish.

Philippe de Carteret le Cornu (October 20, 1861 St. Helier - January 23, 1944), Lieutenant-Bailiff of Jersey in 1934

[Michele Gayler provided the following information about Le Cornu:] His fullname is Philippe de Carteret Le Cornu, born September 3, 1861 in St. Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands. Son of Josué Le Cornu [1830 Trinity, Jersey - 1902] and Elizabeth de Carteret [b. 1823]. Josué was a nurseryman/seedsman. I believe his full title was Lieutenant Bailiff Philip de Carteret Le Cornu, OBE, Jurat of the Royal Court of Jersey. He had only one daughter - Lilian Jane Alexandrina Le Cornu.

Michele also supplied a copy of an article about Le Cornu that appeared in the September 29, 1906, Jersey Week by Week. Here are some highlights from that article: Le Cornu was the fourth generation of a horticultural family. He was educated at Victoria College. He trained under his father at High View, as well as at other leading English nurseries. In 1880, at the age of 19, he became a member of the firm of of Joshua Le Cornu & Son. In 1895, Le Cornu opened The Jersey Nurseries at Almorah. Five years later, he bought the High View Nurseries from his father. The combined nurseries were then known as The Jersey and High View Nurseries. Interestingly enough, their specialty seems to have been trees.
