It is sad to record the death of Ted Allen on 12 April this year. He was born in 1914 in Formby and christened Edgar Franceys......
[From The Ultimate Rose Book, by Stirling Macoboy, p. 198:] In his breeding program, E.F. Allen, the Royal National Rose Society's scientific advisor, had tried to combine Rosa ecae with larger roses.
