From the Australian Rose Annual 1940, page 41.
Caption: Mr. Alister Clarkâs record of his selected seedlings.
p142. Editor. Historic Pictures.
On page 41 appears two interesting pictures, the upper one of which is that of a well thumbed book known to most of Mr. Alister Clark's friends, as it goes with him almost wherever he goes, and contains a record of all his selected seedlings, with details, where possible, of their parentage and his own comments thereon.
The numbers correspond with labels attached to the various seedlings, and a reference to the book will tell all there is to know about any particular plant.
The open page photographed gives some idea of the number of these seedlings, and the prodigious work entailed in their raising, for it contains only those seedlings considered worthy of being persevered with, and takes no account of the many thousands discarded as useless. This famous little book is familiarly known as Mr. Clark's Bible.
