Philip Arthur Hendley, who was the Littleport G.P. from 1909 until his death, was born in 1879 at Jeypore in 8bdia. His father was a British Regional Surgeon for the India Medical Service.

Having received a British education, which included studying medicine at King's, he eventually set up his own practice in Littleport, Cambs.

A member of my the Royal Horticultural Society, he is better known for his production and hybridizing of gladioli.

He was to die in Littleport on July 17th, 1934.
