Among the new roses shown was only one real novelty, most having been exhibited at last year's shows, and nothing higher than a certificate of merit was awarded. George Beckwith & Son, Hoddesdon, exhibited Elsie Beckwith, a rose that was considered by many to be the best in the show as a commercial variety; it is a seedling Hybrid Tea, of a deep, glowing, rosy pink, long in the bud, exquisitely shaped, with large, deep petals. In habit and foliage it is not unlike Richmond; it will be without doubt a cut flower rose, and judging by a sample bush the growth is vigorous; it has a faint tea scent.

Lady Duncan Rosa Wichuraiana fertilized with Rosa rugosa. Absolutely hardy. Winner of the Silver Medal of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, 1900. One of the finest hardy Ramblers ever raised.
Has the prostrate long rampant growth of the mother, while the Rugosa blood shows in the foliate, spines and flowers, the petals being a warm lively pink and making a delightful contrast to the yellow stamens.
