Hi! I've been growing roses since about 1997. I'm a member of our local rose society and the American Rose Society, and my garden is a work-in-progress. I try to grow roses mostly without sprays or chemical fertilizers, and I would be happy to share with anyone those varieties I have found to be the most disease-resistant.
5-15-2005: Attended the Celebration of Old Roses in El Cerrito on Sunday and found a rose that matched one that grows 'wild' in my yard: R. californica! I had been trying to identify this species rose for some time, but failed to realize that there are variations within a single species. I did a little research and found out that this rose has a longer blooming period than I have experienced, probably because I don't water it much (in fact, I used to mow it down!). Looks like I'll be giving it more water this year.
