I find this rose doubly intriguing, for the intermittent frilliness of its petals, and because it can sucker on its own roots, despite being labelled HT. Its parentage isn't recorded.

I wouldn't be surprised if it had 'Scorcher' in its breeding as you see somewhat of that same scalloping in the older photos and I get the impression that Clark used it quite a lot as a pollen parent. If this is the case and 'Scorcher' does have R. moyesii blood it as is suggested, it might explain suckering habits.

Edit: I'm only assuming that R. moyesii suckers because it's a species and looks like it might, but perhaps it doesn't.
