My own-root Mondiale plant also took three years for its first bloom (this past summer). I'm hoping that is only the beginning, as it was beautiful (like your photo) and lasted a very long time on the bush, even in temperatures around 100 F. It should make a nice cut rose!

It is a nice cut rose. But the way to let this rose bloom was a long one, that might be due to the plantquality... but I'm not sure about that. At least it was budded. The photo was a bit blurry, for the light was bad and I had to open the shutter too long. Next time I'll use a tripod.

I understand about the photo, but it was still nice. I get too lazy to use the tripod most of the time, but I ruin more photos that way than I care to admit. I'd save time taking fewer photos with the tripod, no doubt.
I've been meaning to mention that your English is quite good. Did you learn it at a young age? I studied in France for a short time in my youth and met some people from the Netherlands, and as I recall they were all fluently multilingual. Is that common, in your experience? How many languages can you speak?

My English is alright and manage to make myself understandable, read english books when that was uncommon to do in my Youth and the books of Tolkien weren't as popular as they are now. At school I learned Dutch, German, English and a few years French. And can understand a lot of Dutch and German dialects. I make mistakes, but try to be polite when answering, but that sometimes fails, for I use a wrong word or way to build the sentence. I have time to think what I shall write, for I use just two fingers to type. A "heck" of a job.
And yes a lot of the Dutch people write and speak some languages, for historically we are trading people. But speaking foreign languages, is for a lot of the Dutch difficult. We then call it "pitcoal" English or German. "Steenkolen Engels".(broken English)
