Robert, the buds of your R. cymosa are quite different than on the other photos from Europe. More like Rosa yakushimaensis.

Jedmar, you could be correct.

The seed was received from Dr. David Byrne labeled, "R. cymosa",

I have no idea of the provenance of the material beyond that.

I only kept this seedling a season or two after it flowered. I didn't care for the prickles or the growth habit enough to try to carry it forward.

The plant was gifted to Jonathan Windham.

I do like the look of the clones of cymosa in Europe.
