'Rosa rubrifolia 'Carmenetta'' rose Description

Bloom:
Purple, pink shading. Star-like. Mild fragrance. up to 5 petals. Average diameter 2". Medium, single (4-8 petals), cluster-flowered, prickly receptor bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.
Habit:
Arching, armed with thorns / prickles, spreading. Grey-green foliage.
Height: up to 7' (up to 215cm). Width: 7' to 11' (215 to 335cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 2b and warmer. Very hardy. vigorous. can be trained as a climber. plant in partial shade for best color. produces decorative hips. Disease susceptibility: susceptible to rust .

Notes:
Looks very similar to Rosa glauca, but thornier, with larger blooms and hips. Some authorities say it is less subject to rust. 'Carmenetta' at Sangerhausen seems to be mislabeled
