Named in honour of Don Nilo Sánchez, a great rosarian from Argentina of Spanish origin who settled down in Necochea (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and designed the first and one of the most beautiful rose gardens specialized in Pernetiana roses and early Hybrid Teas during the mid of the XX Century. Married with Velma A. Vitali Zubizarreta Eguren was the grandfather and rose mentor of Mariano R. Saviello, an Argentinean rose grower specialized, as well, in Hybrid Tea roses.
