Having it for the 3rd year, I suggest that it MUST be in full sun, otherwise the leaves will be prone to downy mildew and drop. I have 3 plants growing beside a low hedge so the lower part of the plants are in semi-shade, this year by June all the lower leaves were gone, and all the upper leaves in full sun remain intact.

Without hard pruning, it’s behaving more like a shrub (no surprise when you look at the parentage) but repeats really well. Outer petals could be damaged by rain but the flowers are breathtakingly beautiful when in right conditions. The plant is vigorous but not excessively.

This may be the first rose I get rid of solely based on its smell. At last I understand people mean when they describe a fragrance as medicinal or like inexpensive scented cold cream. I may not even wait out the season to toss this one.
