Mrs. Bushby. Old. Bourbon. Deep Pink. Discovered in Australia, the correct identity of this rose is not known. Robert Peace: …….I was convinced I must stay a second night in Hobart by my kind hosts and was the second day taken to meet Mrs. Margaret Bushby of Sandy Bay. Mrs. Bushby had recently suffered a bereavement so I was honoured to be welcomed to her home and garden. Again, there was much to admire in this summer-shaded garden. Margaret has long collected rare old roses from all over Tasmania. One so impressed David Ruston that he now lists “Mrs. Bushby’s Bourbon” in his budwood list. Margaret didn’t know her foundling had been named and introduced to commerce and I think was quite amused by the fetching title bestowed on it.
