The Churchill Rose  (Modern Shrub) A stunning, free-flowering shrub rose with medium-sized, semi-double, unique shade of apricot blooms. The buds change to a delicate peach and yellow as they open. Very healthy with abundant mid-green, glossy foliage. It can be grown as a freestanding shrub rose or as a small climber, if planted next to a wall or fence. Bred by Horner, introduced by Beales. We are proud to be associated with such an iconic person and the world-famous Churchill College, Cambridge

'The Churchill Rose'. This rose is a perfect alternative to 'Perdita' which we no longer stock. A stunning free flowering shrub rose with a lovely perfume and large, cupped semi-double to double blooms of a beautiful and unique shade of apricot. It is very healthy and has abundant mid green glossy foliage, with attractive maroon edging on young growth. Peter Beales said "We are pleased to introduce this rose for the 50th anniversary of the Churchill College Cambridge. It is a fantastic addition to our peach-orange range of shrub roses and we are proud to be associated with such an iconic person and a world famous college."
Modern Shrub. Colour: A lighter shade of Orange. Repeat Flowering. Cupped. Double. Bloom Size Medium. Some Scent (5 / 10). Not very tolerant of any shade. Quite thorny (7 / 10). Average disease resistance. Hip Shape: None. DOB 2011. Breeder Beales.

LONDON, July 14th — The second breed of hybrid tea rose named for Churchill, developed by Churchill College to mark its 50th anniversary last year, was planted in the garden at Ten Downing Street by Prime Minister David Cameron......The new Churchill rose, developed for Churchill College by Peter Beales Roses in Norfolk, a peach-coloured variety, debuted earlier this year at the Chelsea Flower Show. Churchill's daughter Lady Soames, Patron of the Churchill Centre, gave Cameron "firm instructions" on how the rose should be planted as Churchill College Master Sir David Wallace and Richard Beales of the Norfolk firm looked on. The new rose is also now planted at Chartwell....
