Bred by Silvos (Belgium, before 1829).
Class:
Gallica / Provins.  
Bloom:
Red, violet flecks, lilac outer petals.  Medium, double (17-25 petals), expanded bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  Glandular sepals buds.  
Habit:
Medium.

Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).

Notes:
Alphonse Karr states in 1835 that 'Roi de Bavière' is a synonym of 'Duuc de Bavière', however the colours do not match.
