Jackson & Perkins has sold this rose periodically. Mine are c. 2-2.5m tall and 2.5-3m wide in Sunset Zone 20 - USDA cusp of 10 & 11. Flowers are borne singly on 30-40cm stems in clusters of 3 to 9 on vigorous laterals or basal breaks. The bush is foliated right down to the ground, and should probably be called a grandiflora in the US, and is suitable for planting alone as a large shrub. Resists powder mildew and rust well, both a problem here on the West Coast.

In the pictures it looks a lot like the Sunsprite and Sunflare lineage. Is anything known about the parents? It has the same shiny leaves which I think might be inhierited from Captain Thomas, do I have that right?
