(1 of 4). The Belgian-British botanist G. A. Boulenger who described and named Rosa korschinskiana in 1935 considered it to be "...le passage du R. Webbiana au R. glutinosa", a transition between Rosa webbiana and Rosa glutinosa. Boulenger's specimens came from François Crépin's herbarium where they were filed under the name of R. Webbiana. These specimens were collected by S. Korschinsky in Uzbekistan at Bukhara and Tashkent. My plant is from the U.C. Berkeley Botanic Garden. This photo was taken June 1, 2020 at "Rose Woods" in the Mayacmas Mtns. near Petrified Forest, California.

(4 of 4) Here is a photograph of Rosa glutinosa showing the numerous glands on both the upper and lower leaflet surface for which it is famed and which character it shares with korschinskiana. My plant is from Forest Farm and the photo was taken June 8, 2020 at "Rose Woods".

(3 of 4) I am including this photo of R. webbiana (from the Himalayas in Kashmir, India) which illustrates the affinity of korschinskiana in prickles and leaflet shape and size. Photograph taken April 30, 2020 at "Rose Woods".

(2 of 4) This closeup shows the extreme glandularness of korschinskiana's leaflets which it shares with R. glutinosa. But the prickles most resemble R. webbiana. This was taken June 1, 2020 at "Rose Woods".
