'Smooth Lady' rose Reviews & Comments

Red Stamens, semi-double, opens with dark pink petals fading to pale pink over 3 or so days. This is an upright climber with a graceful arching habit, and long stems. The more flowers my plant has on it, the paler and smaller they seem to be. As far as I can tell, the glossy leaves are immune to black spot and mildew, but she is growing in a partly overhung location, getting afternoon sun. Healthy and vigorous. I like the moderate spicy tea fragrance. The flowers do better (more fragrant, last longer) with some shade. My plant is completely smooth (no thorns whatsoever). Flowers on old wood, if you don't prune, it will send out a shoot near the last flower(s). I have left the flowers and they do form huge hips in autumn. Sometimes, the flowers will grow in bunches of 3 or 4. Blooms in slow flushes, meaning, the buds develop over a few weeks and bloom not all at the same time, with the best flushes in spring and fall. This plant does great with just a little fertilizing a few times in the summer.
I BELIEVE the plant I have is smooth lady. Zone 6b, clay soil, part covered/shady growing facing west.

Smooth Lady is well-covered in large, glossy, light-green leaves. It is also fairly disease resistant. It is not very fragrant in my experience.
