I bought a bare root 'rosy Future' from a UK nursery, where the rose was advertised as a 45cm tall Patio rose. In its first season, it produced 180 cm long shoots which is a far cry from its purported characteristics. Infact it looks like a miniature climber. To note that here (in the Mediterranean island of Malta) the average temperature is about 12 degrees in winter and 33 degrees in summer with a relative high humidity. It is still shy to flower but then it is in its first season.

I received mine last year and it bloomed three times in it's first year. It is starting to look like a miniflora plant. Heirloom's has a full grown specimen at their garden display and it was a 3' x 3' ball of pale coral red/deep pink blooms.
Im wondering if you reveived a mislabled plant. The picture on HMF looks nothing like mine or Heirloom's specimen.

Thanks for the information. Maybe if you have a photo of the rose bush you can upload it. Actually I bought mine from Harkness. Maybe the miniature climber Nice day was sent instead. I am itching to see its performance this summer, which is its second year. Lateral shoors have now started to grow from the long shoots at the moment.

Mine changed this summer. It is now half climber and half bush. One of the canes sported and decided to climb. It had a cluster of blooms 8' up in the air at the top.
I dont think this rose is very stable genetically....

I hope you refer to Hampshire in the UK! If so, "Rosy Future" is listed by Pocock“s Roses, Jermyns Lane, Romsey, Hants SO51 0QA - www.Pocockroses.co.uk. Also, Apuldram Roses, Chichester and Wych Cross Nurseries, Forest Row, E.Sussex are reasonably local.
