Horticultural & Botanical History ‘A very ornamental climber, and its flowers sweet-scented. Though well known to our older Botanists, and cultivated as long ago as the year 1569, by Mr. Hugh Morgan, it is by no means common: the double variety is more so; but this in our opinion, though preferred by Miller, is not so handsome as either of the single red or purple varieties.’ [BM t.565/1802].
