Book (Jul 1998) Page(s) 147. ...the centifolia called "Duc d'Angoulême" by Vibert, which was named "Duchesse d'Angoulême" by Miellez ([catalogue] Prévost, 1829, no. 144) from where comes the error of stating "Duc d'Angoulême" as a synonym of the [gallica] "Duchesse d'Angoulême" of Vibert...
Book (1971) Page(s) 26. Tess Allan. Gallica Roses. Duchesse d'Angoulême ranks as a hybrid Gallica; it is a delicate but wiry bush, a rose mobile forever swaying in the slightest breeze. The young leaves are lemon-green in colour and, in maturity, they turn light green, but remain soft and smooth. Long, narrow sepals protect blush-coloured buds splashed with crimson, and the flower stems droop under the weight of the globular, scented flowers. The blush petals have the quality of fine porcelain and are tinged with deeper pink as if an artist, passing by with a brush saturated in paint, had with delicacy and lightness of touch shaded the petals There is an exquisite painting of this rose by Charles Raymond in 'Part Two' of Old Garden Roses by W. Blunt and J. Russell. This rose seems to me to be more like the small Centifolia roses than the typical Gallica.
[Footnote - Modern Roses 7 state the parentage as possibly R. Centifolia x R. gallica. Ed.]
