According to Robert Osborne, it was discarded from the Ottawa breeding program; the original being found in government test beds, Fredricton, NB.

According to Felicitas Svejda it was not from her breeding program ['The Rosebank Letter #34] Appears almost identical to R. gallica grandiflora except it is fragrant.
