Bred by Jean-Pierre Liabaud (France, 1877).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1882 as 'Madame Gabriel Luizet'.
Class:
Bourbon, Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Light pink.  Moderate fragrance.  34 petals.  Very large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, high-centered to cupped, semi-globular bloom form.  Spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom.  
Habit:
Tall.  

Height: 5' to 6' (150 to 185cm).  Width: 3' (90cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 5b and warmer.  Vigorous.  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to Mildew.  Prune lightly or not at all.

Notes:
Gabriel Luizet (November 22, 1794 - March 15, 1872), nurseryman at Ecully-les-Lyon, bred the apricot "Luizet" in 1838, and later emigrated to Saxon in Valais, Switzerland.
Gabriel Luizet, his grandson (1846-1922), late president of the Société pomologique de France, horticulturist, landscape architect.
