I absolutely HATE how thorny this rose is; they run right up the stem to the hip.

Albuquerque NM, Zone 7, Hot and Dry, No spray, Container grown. This is one of my most productive roses, it has never been out of flower during the growing season, and always seems to have a LOT of blooms on the bush. It's beautifully scented, although not at all hours of the day, you have to catch it at opportune times. The blooms hold a long time and go through subtle color changes, with apricot, pale pink, and blush white. Wonderfully healthy foliage, with only the occasional yellow leaf. I used to live in Paris for many years, so of course I had to have this rose when I saw it, and it's turned out to be one of my absolute favorites.

I'm a bit disappointed by this one. The fragrance turned out to be more of a myrrh-tinged aroma, which can be good or bad, but this is on the decidedly unpleasant side to my nose. The color is nice enough, but the flowers are thin-petaled and don't always open well (and when in clusters, the buds are sometimes crammed together, which doesn't help). Although the plants started out looking healthy and flowering well earlier in the spring, they've now largely defoliated from blackspot without spray, and the wind seems to have gone out of their sails.
