Final Analysis 1983-84. 'Bertha Aikman'. Simpson 1977 ('Gipsy Moth' x 'Percy Thrower') 45 petals, two toned salmon-pink. tragrant. 25 reports, 7.1 rating. This New Zealand raised rose has risen over the years in its rating, but would still appear to be only known of in the North Island and Nelson. Early reporters were pleased with it in general, even though most blooms had split centres. Reporters still are very pleased with her, in spite of those split centres, they still talk of her as being a very good garden variety. The plant is healthy and inclined to sprawl.

'Bertha Aikman'. Simpson 1977. ('Gypsy Moth' x 'Percy Thrower'). 8 reports. 6 years. Average height 4 ft. 7.3 rating. A two-toned salmon-pink rose. 6 reports from the North Island and two from the Nelson area, so we feel this rose is not widely known in New Zealand, a pity as it scores well and all reporters speak of it as being a good garden rose. It thrives in hot weather, produces shapely small blooms which often have split centres. There are few thorns. The foliage a dull colour, is healthy. The bush grows well and is tough.
