ARS:

White, near white or white blend Hybrid Tea.

Origin:

Bred by Emmanuel-Denis Buatois (France, 1900).

Class:

Hybrid Tea.

Bloom:

White, yellow highlights. Moderate fragrance. Large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Habit:

Height: up to 39" (up to 100cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 7b and warmer. Can be trained as a climber. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that. Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .

Marie Henry (1859-1945 Pierrefeu-du-Var) was the owner of the inn "Buvette de la Plage" in Le Pouldu, Bretagne, a meeting place of a group of painters around Paul Gauguin from 1889 onwards. The inn was decorated at the time with paintings as payment by the painters and is today a museum.
