‘Adèle Courtois’ = Gallica. First mentioned in the catalogue of Louis Van Houtte in 1842. Adele Courtios was a lady of the demi-monde in the second Empire, a queen of fashion and of a life of excess. There is some doubt as to whether this rose agrees with Van Houtte's original, which was described as soft pink (rose tendre). An upright shrub around 1m. Leaflets elliptic, often 3 rather than the usual 5.
