B. V. Rossi: .....And who has forgotten Conlan’s classic bloom of Muriel Grahame and its mystifying glass shade, which caused so much merriment and speculation as to its raison d’etre? I could have enlightened the curious, having chanced to overhear Mrs. Arthur Tuckett asking Mr. Conlan himself the why and the wherefore of it, to which he replied “Oh, people breath on it!” There is no doubt that that glass shade helped to keep green the memory of that delightful bloom.
