Website/Catalog (1925) Page(s) 28. New Roses 1925. Little Joe (HT) (Looymans) A seedling of ‘Red Letter Day’ x ‘H V. Machin’. A five petal medium size single variety of a most vivid royal scarlet colour with prominent golden anthers, opening freely and carried well erect on stiff sterns. When exhibited among the seedlings at the N.R.S. Show in June, 1923, it was considered by many to be the most outstanding novelty of the year. A splendid rose for bedding, massing and general decorative work; moderate grower, mildew proof. Awarded Certificate of Merit of the N.R.S. 4/- each. Good colour which does not appear to blue. .
