Thomas for Roses don't have this rose listed on this site, but they do have it listed in their current PDF catalogue that is downloadable from the Hains site. It's the seventh entry listed on page 34.

Ok, I'll get a bit of a list together before I contact them. I think there are several that are in that PDF but not listed on this site, and I'm going through old roses at the moment for my own reference anyway.

When I put the T4R catalogue onto hmf, I left out a few that I knew were incorrect; they describe this one as white, but it should be red. The rose given to them as Mrs Dunlop Best was one of the incorrect ones. I don't remember Rembrandt, but it was a while ago.
By the way they do have a stock plant of the very rare Marquise de Vivens, given to them as "Mrs Good's Special Tea", though they don't list it.
T4R have done excellent work in making old roses available, especially early-to-1940s HTs that no-one else in Aus lists now, so I can live with their reluctance to change their labels or update their catalogue.

Ah, I wasn't looking at the description when I posted that. White is definitely wrong. I suppose it might be interesting to try and find out what it really is, since it's obviously not 'Docteur Cazeneuve'.
I've just looked up 'Marquise de Vivens'. Sounds like an excellent Tea to have. I'd like to try it up here sometime, so I'll ask them about that too. Thanks for the tip.

I can't shed any light on the availability of the real Dr C or the identity of Thomas's rose of that name, but believe it may be connected with the Old Anlaby property.
An old Dr Cazeneuve label from the early 1900s persisted in the famous Old Anlaby garden near Kapunda much longer than its rose. The label has been attached to a number of roses along the way - none of these, in recent times, deep red in colour. 'American Pillar' or something similar was one that displayed the label for a time, 'Comtesse de Labarthe' another. A white one as well?

For what it's worth, I've had an email from T4R that included a picture of their "Doctor Who?". It's very white, and offhand I have no idea what it is. I've uploaded the picture to imgur just so anyone can take a look, but I won't upload it to HMF since it is obviously not the rose it is masquerading as.

Edit: Actually T4R's "Doctor Who?", whatever it is, looks rather nice in that picture. I may end up getting one just to see how it goes, and to see if enough photos and swotting can figure out its real identity. Could be a fun challenge.
