In the books, this rose is described as deep gold w/ an apricot wash. The pictures look like a honey-toned version of St Patrick.

I am not sure what happened, or what the real Hello Dolly/Kamala is like, but that is how it looks/is described in the books.

The hot pink rose that is being sold throughout the big box store trade as Jack Christensen's "Hello Dolly" most assuredly is not that rose. The big box stores have been selling the same "wrong-labelled" rose for at least 7 years running now. I don't know of a source for the real Jack Christensen Hello Dolly. Somebody in the trade must have gotten their bud wood mixed up quite a while back.

If anyone knows a source for the real Hello Dolly, I would like to get one. Please let us all know.

I bought this rose at Lowes in March. It's blooms were a long-lasting hot pink. Maybe the grandparentage of First Prize is showing through?
