Book (1958) Page(s) 225. Mary Hart. HT. (G. B. Hart, '31.) Talisman sport. Large, dbl., open, very faragrant, red. Fol. glossy, dark. Vig. (28) Pl. Pat. 8 (expired).
Book (1953) Page(s) 86. Frank Penn. Auckland, NZ. Twelve Good Roses. Mary Hart (Hart, 1931).— A red sport of Talisman, with somewhat similar blooms, but a crimson-scarlet colour, and a very sweet damask perfume. Tall, vigorous growth, very floriferous. In my opinion, much superior to its parent, Talisman. Mary Hart is everyones' sweetheart. A charming decorative rose.
Book (1947) Page(s) 122. Mary Hart (Garden & Decorative) One of Talisman's sports, and at its best a vivid coppery red, but the colour is variable and at times is not pleasing. Semi-double. Damask perfume. Fragrant. Habit 3. (HT)
Website/Catalog (1946) Page(s) 22. MARIE HUART (Jackson et Perkins 1933). Fleur rouge sang, reflets jaunes.
Book (1944) Page(s) 75. Frank Penn, Auckland. N.Z. The Twelve Best Roses Mary Hart (Hart, 1931): Is a red sport of Talisman, and, in my opinion, is a better Rose than its parent. The colour is glowing crimson-scarlet, flushed orange. At times the blooms fade rather badly. The habit of the plant is vigorous, and blooms are freely produced on long stems, making it ideal for decorative purposes. Sweet damask perfume.
Magazine (Jun 1941) Page(s) 10.
Book (1941) Page(s) 53. Frank Penn. NZ. The Old and the New. Mary Hart I consider one of the very finest of all decorative Roses. It blooms freely, grows strongly, has lovely fragrance, and makes a glorious Rose for a vase. It is far ahead of its parent, Talisman, in my humble opinion.
Book (1939) Page(s) 122. Mr. W. Summers, Blackwood, S.A. Mary Hart (so-called Red Talisman).- A wonderful colour, very beautiful in bud; colour variable, some blooms almost the same as William Orr.
