Book (1959) Page(s) 17. Harry H. Hazlewood. Some New Roses for 1959. Two unusual novelties are Black Boy and Blue Boy from Wm. Kordes. 'Black Boy' has the appearance of a Moss rose, with very dark blackish-red double blooms and the typical Moss rose spines thickly covering the stems. The name is unfortunate as a very popular Climbing H.T. variety was raised by the late Mr. Alister Clark and named 'Black Boy' in 1919.
