Origin:

Bred by Wilhelm Kordes III (1953 - 2016) (Germany, 1990).
Introduced in United States by Bear Creek Gardens, Inc. in 1990 as 'Canterbury'.

Class:

Shrub. (Series: Garden Ease ™ Collection)

Bloom:

Red, yellow stamens. None to mild fragrance. 15 to 20 petals. Average diameter 2.5". Small, double (17-25 petals), cluster-flowered, in large clusters, cupped bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Medium, pointed, ovoid buds.

Habit:

Short, spreading. Medium, glossy, dark green, leathery foliage. 5 to 7 leaflets.

Height: 2' to 30" (60 to 75cm). Width: 5' to 7' (150 to 215cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Can be used for beds and borders, container rose, garden or ground cover. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant. Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) . Can be grown in the ground or in a container (container requires winter protection).
